Given below is a table with four sections. In each of the sections there is a table with 7 pairs of statements. Please read each pair of statement carefully and ask, which statement applies to you more. Choose a number closer to your assessment of yourselves. There are no right or wrong answers. The idea is to identify how close to a particular statement you are. Please note that the pair of statements may not look opposite of each other. You must still choose the closest of the two statements. You can choose only one of the statements from each pair.

Please check out this example before you begin. Let us look at the 1st statement. If you believe that you are completely focused on the outer world of people and things, you will score yourselves at 1, in the rating scale. If you believe that you are focused only internally on your own ideas, memories or emotions, you will score yourselves at a 6 in the rating scale. If you think you are some where in between, you will choose an appropriate score to represent where in the continuum you stand. Remember; you can score only one number in a particular row. Once you have scored one sub section, the score card should look something like this.

The MBTI is a reliable and valid instrument that measures and categorizes your personality and behavior. It is not a test. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers.

• Around 1940 a mother-daughter team (Katharine C. Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers) developed this instrument to help people understand and use Carl Jung’s theory of psychological type preferences.

• Swiss Psychologist, Carl Jung, (1875 – 1961) theorized that you can predict differences in people’s behavior if you know how they prefer to use their mind.

According to Jung, we each have an inborn preference for using our mind in one of two different ways, in four different categories:

1. Where, primarily, do you direct your energy?
        Extraverted:
Energised by Others
        Introverted:
Energised by ideas, emotions and memories

2. How do you prefer to process information?
        Sensing:
Using five senses
        iNtuition:
Using gut or intuition

3. How do you prefer to make decisions?

    Thinking:Logical problem solvers
        Feeling:
Consider others, compassionate

4. How do you prefer to organise your life?

Perceiving: Taking in information
        Judging:
Organising information and taking decisions
